Washington: 70 percent of American Hindus voted for Trump in the US presidential election. So, now people of Hindu community will see what Trump does for India. Only then can we form an opinion about them. Now Hindus hope that it will work well for them and India. Indian-American leader Dr. Bharat Barai has said that people of the community voted for Donald Trump because of his strong reaction in favor of Bangladeshi Hindus.
He said that the newly elected US President Trump raised his voice on the crimes against Hindus in Bangladesh during his election campaign. Now they will be judged based on what they do after assuming office. Barai believes that about 70 percent of Hindu Americans voted for the Republican Party candidate in the November 5 presidential election, but he did not provide any information on this claim. Barai did not cite any survey to support this figure.
Hindus were angry with the Democrats
Barai said people in the community voted for Trump because they were frustrated with the Democratic Party, which uses human rights as a “political weapon” for countries like India. He claimed that President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris had not reacted strongly to the violence against Hindus in Bangladesh following Sheikh Hasina’s ouster in August. He said that although the population of Hindu Americans is small, they are an important constituency. “I believe 70 percent of Hindu Americans voted for Trump this time,” he said. (language)
