Champions Trophy 2025: Pakistan’s failure, final decision finally taken, India admits it

This time the hosting of the Champions Trophy 2025 is in the hands of Pakistan. There are many speculations about the tournament. A few days ago, the BCCI informed the ICC that it would not allow Team India to tour Pakistan for the Champions Trophy. After which there is continuous discussion between ICC and Pakistan Cricket Board. Meanwhile, a potential breakthrough has emerged. It is believed that the Pakistan Cricket Board and ICC have agreed that the tournament played in both India and Pakistan till 2027 will be played in a hybrid model.

All three tournaments will be affected

According to a report by ESPNcricinfo, an agreement has been reached between the PCB and the ICC, but the PCB has not commented on it. He has only said that the discussion is going on. However, there is no word yet on whether this hybrid model will be applicable to both men’s and women’s cricket. If this applies to both, the two countries will play a total of three ICC tournaments from the year 2025 to the year 2027. In which the hosting of the Champions Trophy in February 2025 is in the hands of Pakistan. The Women’s ODI World Cup will be hosted in India in late 2025 and the Men’s T20 World Cup will be hosted in India in 2026. However, the T20 World Cup is co-hosted by India along with Sri Lanka. In such a situation, these three major tournaments may be affected due to this agreement.

A decision will be taken on this day

A meeting on the issue was held between the new ICC chairman Jay Shah and PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi on December 5, but no definite decision has been taken yet. Now the board meeting has been fixed on December 7 to discuss the Champions Trophy. On the other hand, the Pakistan Cricket Board also asked the ICC to compensate the losses caused by the hybrid model, but the ICC did not accept this condition of the PCB. The report also revealed that if Team India reaches the knockout stage, the knockout matches in India will be played outside Pakistan. As per the hybrid model, all India’s matches can be played in UAE or Sri Lanka. If what is said in the report turns out to be true, it will be a loss for India and BCCI as well. The tournament played in India will be played on a hybrid model. In such a situation, there will be loss of income.
