Pakistan has created a new record by defeating Australia in the ODI series. Due to his brilliant bowling, Pakistan won the 3-match ODI series 2-1. In this way, Pakistan achieved the miracle of winning the series on Australian soil after 22 years. With this, Pakistan has achieved a great achievement by winning the series in Australia for the second time in any format.
Australia won the first match but Pakistan won the last two ODIs to clinch the series. Fast bowler Haris Rauf was the hero of Pakistan’s historic victory. He performed brilliantly in the second match taking 5 wickets, while in the third ODI he bowled economically and took 2 wickets in his bag. In this way he has achieved a feat which even Virat Kohli could not do.
Haris Rauf created a unique record
In fact, Haris Rauf took 10 wickets in the entire series. In the second match, he took 5 wickets and won the player of the match award. He also became the player of the match in the third match. In the end, the Player of the Series award also went to Haris Rauf. In doing so, he became the 5th bowler in the world and the first bowler to win Player of the Series in ODIs on Australian soil in the last 10 years.
Even Virat Kohli could not achieve this feat in the last 10 years. However, this achievement is recorded in the name of India’s Rohit Sharma and Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Dhoni became the Player of the Series in ODIs on Australian soil in 2019. Rohit Sharma did the same in 2016. Apart from this, David Miller achieved this feat in 2019 and Joe Root in 2018. Interestingly, among all the players involved in this club, Haris Rauf is the only bowler. All the rest are batsmen.
