Why is this Muslim country going to give the right to marry 9 year old innocent girls, how will the girls be safe in such a situation?

Baghdad: Innocent girls as young as 9, worshiped as goddesses in the Sanatan religion, a Muslim country has prepared to openly allow girls of her own age to be victims of lust. You may be surprised to hear, but this Muslim country has introduced a legal proposal giving men the right to marry girls as young as 9 years old. Now preparations are underway to pass it through the House. Giving 9-year-old girls the right to marry directly means giving them the right to legally sexually exploit them. Hence, women have taken to the streets against this decision of the government.

The name of this country is Iraq. Now this country will amend its marriage laws. Where the marriageable age of girls is being reduced from 18 years to 9 years. According to the report, once this law is passed, men of any age will have the legal right to marry 9-year-old girls. According to a report in The Telegraph, after the implementation of this law, those girls will not have the right to divorce, custody of children and inheritance. An amendment has also been proposed to deprive them of all this.

What is the logic of getting married at the age of 9?

Iraq’s conservative government, led by a coalition of Shia parties, argues that the decision is an attempt to protect girls from “immoral relationships”. Therefore it is necessary to pass this proposed amendment. Another amendment to the law was passed on 16 September. The report claims that it was named “Law 188”, which was considered one of the most progressive laws in West Asia when it was introduced in 1959. It provided a comprehensive set of rules to govern Iraqi families, regardless of their religious denomination.

Said that the proposed law is according to Islam

Iraq’s coalition government has described the proposed reform as in line with its strict interpretation of Islamic Sharia law. The government says its aim is to “protect” young girls. A government with a parliamentary majority is expected to push through the legislation despite opposition from Iraqi women’s groups. And according to UNICEF, child marriage is already at high rates across Iraq. About 28% of Iraqi girls here are married before the age of 18. In such a situation, the proposed reforms are likely to worsen the situation. Human Rights Watch said such reforms would increase young girls’ risk of sexual and physical violence and deprive them of access to education and employment.
