Edited quotes:
Women have increasingly become prominent figures in the real estate industry. How do you envision their continued impact on shaping the future of the field?
The growing prominence of women in the Indian real estate industry is inspiring and critical to its future. Women bring diverse perspectives and innovative ideas that can transform traditional practices into a more inclusive and sustainable approach. As we continue to advocate for gender inclusion, I envision more women taking on leadership roles at all levels, driving initiatives that prioritize well-being, sustainability and social equity. Their involvement will create a more balanced and holistic real estate ecosystem, ultimately improving project outcomes and customer experiences.
How can we foster a more inclusive and equitable environment in the real estate industry to empower women and maximize their potential?
Fostering an inclusive environment requires a multi-pronged approach. First, mentoring programs are essential to support women entering the industry and guide them through their careers. Second, organizations should prioritize diversity in hiring and promotion to ensure that women are represented at all levels. Additionally, creating networking platforms, such as the CREDAI Women’s Wing, can empower women by facilitating connections, sharing experiences and providing resources. Finally, industry-wide initiatives that focus on education and awareness around gender bias can help change cultural norms and promote equality in the workplace.
Being the founder and president of CREDAI Rajasthan Women’s Wing, how has your experience been leading and advocating for women in the real estate sector?
Leading the CREDAI Rajasthan Women’s Wing has been very rewarding, especially given the challenges we faced as women in the real estate sector. Since our inception in 2019, we faced many challenges where many women hesitated to enter the field due to lack of awareness and a traditionally male-dominated environment, which created feelings of fear and self-doubt. Many lacked confidence, felt unprepared due to insufficient exposure to industry practices and networking opportunities.
To address these issues, we have created a supportive community that empowers women to take advantage of opportunities. We currently have more than 300 members in Rajasthan and 650+ in other states. We provide a platform for women to voice their concerns and aspirations along with guidance and training. We also advocate for firms to implement women-centric policies, helping to create a more inclusive and accessible industry for future generations of women in real estate.
Can you expand your commitment to sustainable and green building practices? What specific initiatives have you implemented to reduce the environmental impact of your projects?
Sustainability is at the core of my design philosophy and professional commitment. My Masters in Sustainable Design Projects has equipped me with the tools to effectively implement eco-friendly practices. We focus on using sustainable materials, reducing waste during construction and reducing carbon emissions in our projects. These efforts enhance the aesthetics of our buildings and ensure that they contribute positively to the environment and community.
What qualities do you consider essential for successful leadership in the real estate industry?
Successful leadership in real estate is based on a few essential qualities: vision, resilience and empathy. A strong leader must have a clear vision that inspires and guides his team in an ever-evolving industry. Resilience is crucial to navigating challenges, adapting to market changes and coming up with innovative solutions. Empathy enables leaders to connect with their teams, understand their needs, and foster a collaborative environment. A commitment to effective communication and mentoring is also critical to nurturing talent and empowering the next generation of leaders in our industry.
