LG visited Jammu’s Tawi river front, said the place is a major tourist attraction

Lt Governor Manoj Sinha today conducted an on-site inspection of the Tawi River Front Project in Jammu and said that the site will become a major tourist attraction.

Speaking to the media, the Lt Governor said that the first phase of this flagship project under the Jammu Smart City initiative is expected to be completed by January 2025. He said that the Tawi River Front would significantly increase the tourist attraction of Jammu, complementing the recently completed projects. Like Jambu Zoo, Light and Sound Show and Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam temple.

Sinha said places like Suchetgarh and the Tirumala Tirupati temple attract 5,000-6,000 visitors daily, with the number increasing on weekends. “Efforts are on to develop additional tourist destinations in Jammu city and surrounding regions with the assistance of the Government of India,” he said.

LG said: “This was a challenging project and I appreciate Jammu Smart City for their efforts. I am confident that the people of Jammu will greatly appreciate and enjoy the Tawi Riverfront.

Sinha was accompanied by Chief Secretary Atal Dullu, Additional Chief Secretary (Jal Shakti) Shaleen Kabra, Principal Secretary to Lieutenant Governor Dr. Mandeep Bhandari and Housing and Urban Development Commissioner/Secretary Ms. Mandeep Kaur were the key officials. Senior officials including Yudhveer Sethi (Member of Legislative Assembly) and Devansh Yadav (CEO, Jammu Smart City Limited) were also present during the inspection.
