SRINAGAR, June 18: Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary has officially taken charge as the Secretary to the Government, Department of Science & Technology, Jammu and Kashmir.
In a post on social media platform X, he shared his vision to transform the department into a hub of innovation, sustainability, and community-driven progress.
Acknowledging that the department may not often make headlines, Dr Shahid stressed its untapped potential to shape the J&K’s future. He laid out key focus areas including development of mini hydro and solar power projects, establishment of model solar villages, promotion of grassroots innovation, and strengthening research and R&D linkages.
He also highlighted the need for science-led climate resilience, tech-enabled governance, and stronger partnerships with academia, industry, and local communities.
Dr Shahid vowed to work with “quiet determination and bold vision” to make science and technology a people-centric movement across Jammu and Kashmir. (KDC)
