Srinagar Man Arrested for Forging CIK Document to Defraud Public

Srinagar, June 25, KDC: Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) apprehended a man for circulating a forged document purportedly issued under the signature of SSP CI Kashmir.

The accused, identified as Bilal Ahmad Rather, son of Abdul Samad Rather, originally from 157-Allochi Bagh and currently residing at Zakura, Hazratbal Srinagar, allegedly used the fake document to defraud the public.

Acting on credible inputs, CIK found that Bilal had collected large sums of money from several individuals through deceitful means. When the victims sought a refund, he claimed his bank accounts were under scrutiny and showed them a forged enquiry notice to justify the delay, reads a statement according to Srinagar based news agency Kashmir Dot Com.

During questioning, the fake letter was recovered from Bilal’s mobile phone. He confessed to fabricating the document to mislead the victims and retain the money.

He was handed over to Police Station Zakura, where an FIR No. 39/2025 under sections 318(4), 336(3), 336(4), and 340(1) of the BNS has been registered. He remains in custody as investigations continue.

Police have urged the public to stay vigilant and report similar frauds to the nearest police station. (KDC)
