Pakistan announce squad for Africa tour, shock decision on Babar and Shaheen Afridi

The Pakistan team is scheduled to tour South Africa from December 10 to play the first match of the three-match T20I series, followed by the same ODI series against the hosts and finally the 2-Test series. The Pakistan Cricket Board has finally announced the Pakistan squad for the series across all three formats, which also saw some surprising decisions. Pakistan’s star fast bowler Shaheen Afridi has not been included in the announced squad for the Test series to be played on this tour. Babar Azam, who was out of the last 2 Test matches of the series against England, is back in the team.

Shaheen was not selected in the Test squad with the Champions Trophy in mind

Regarding the decision not to include Shaheen Afridi in the announced Test squad for the tour of South Africa, PCB selection committee member and Pakistan limited overs interim head coach Aqib Javed said that we are planning to include Shaheen Afridi for next year’s champions. Trophies want to keep themselves perfectly fit. Apart from this, spinner Sajid Khan, who won the Player of the Series award in the home Test series against England, did not get a place in the Test team citing the conditions in Africa. While Fakhar Zaman was dropped before selection due to his form and fitness.
