These days there is a new scam going around in the name of Netflix. Users from 23 countries around the world have reported this scam. Netflix is the OTT platform with the largest user base in the world. It is very popular in America, Germany, Spain, France, Australia and India. A recent report by cyber security firm Bitfinder has exposed the fraud being done in the name of Netflix.
According to the report, hackers send fake alert messages to users about Netflix account suspension, redirecting users to a fake Netflix page. This fake Netflix log-in page steals users’ credit card details and then scams them.
As soon as users get an alert that their Netflix account has been suspended, they click on it and go to a fake log-in page. Here hackers ask them to pay to activate their account. Many users fall into hackers’ traps and enter their credit or debit card details.
BitFinder has issued a warning to people about this phishing message from Netflix and asked them not to tap or click on it. Due to such fake alerts, users unknowingly send their information to hackers. Once your information reaches the dark web, it can be misused and you can be subjected to massive fraud.
