US President-elect Donald Trump is once again the centerpiece of clay figurines in a distinctive pose crafted by Spanish artisans following a traditional practice from the Catalonia region of northeastern Spain.
These “Kegner” (pooper) statuettes were initially created as amusing shepherd figures hidden in nativity displays for visitors to find, but have since evolved to include prominent public figures and celebrities who make significant news throughout the year, Reuters reported.
According to Sergey Allos, head of online retailer Caganer.com, sales patterns of statues of American presidential candidates reflect actual election results.
“Trump is just as huge, overwhelming as the election,” he said.
Trump statues showed strong popularity during his first presidential victory in 2016 and again in 2020 when he was defeated.
This year’s collection includes figures from French President Emmanuel Macron, who is currently undergoing government challenges, along with far-right politician Marine Le Pen, who has contributed to political tensions. The collection also features President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine, Vladimir Putin of Russia, Nicolás Maduro of Venezuela and Javier Mille of Argentina.
