A woman abducted by a local in north Kashmir’s Kupwara was successfully rescued by a Rajasthan police team on Tuesday.
“On November 20, 2024, Police Chowki Bazar received a written complaint from Manzoor Ahmad Mir, son of Ghulam Hasan Mir Doniwari Lolab stating that on November 12, 2024, when he and his wife were in SDH Hospital, his wife was abducted. had come One Asif Ahmad Bhat son of Abdul Hameed Bhat of Alchizebh Kupwara. The complainant also stated that the accused used a motorcycle bearing registration number RJ13ST 3028 to carry out the abduction,” the spokesperson said.
“Based on the complaint, a case under relevant sections of the Act under FIR No. 267/2024 was registered at the Kupwara Police Station, and an investigation was initiated,” the statement read.
“During investigation, it was revealed that the accused, along with the kidnapper, went into hiding to avoid arrest. Based on this information, a dedicated police team was formed, which successfully traced and recovered the abducted woman from the custody of the accused in Rajasthan. The accused was immediately taken into custody.”
“The accused has been brought back to Kupwara, and further investigation of the case is on. The Kupwara Police reaffirms its commitment to ensure the safety and security of its citizens and to take prompt action against any criminal activity,” the statement concluded.
