Abhishek Sharma, who recently made his debut for Team India, is performing brilliantly these days. Today i.e. Thursday he scored a century in just 28 balls in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Now he has reached parity with Urvil Patel and has overtaken Rishabh Pant. Abhishek Sharma playing for Punjab hit 11 sixes in his innings against Meghalaya. These 11 sixes have now become very special for him. He has now broken the record of India’s star player and T20 team captain Suryakumar Yadav. He made this record in the year 2022.

Abhishek Sharma has hit 87 sixes in T20 cricket so far this year i.e. 2024. Keep in mind here that we are not just talking about T20 Internationals. Here, sixes for Team India, India A, Punjab and Sunrisers Hyderabad are also included. He is currently playing for Punjab in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. In the remaining days of this year, he will get a chance to play a few more matches and hit more sixes, so that it will be difficult for any other batsman to break his record later.
Surya’s record was broken today by hitting 11 sixes
Today when Abhishek Sharma came to play in the SMAT for the batsmen he played a brilliant innings. He played an innings of 106 runs off just 29 balls and remained unbeaten till the end even after leading his team to victory. He hit 8 fours and 11 sixes. But a six off Suryakumar Yadav might be special for him. Interestingly, Suryakumar Yadav has also returned to the field after his sister’s marriage and is playing the Syed Mushtaq Ali tournament for Mumbai.
Batsman with most sixes in T20 this year
If we talk about the batsmen who hit the most sixes in T20 cricket this year, Nicholas Pooran comes first. So far he has hit 169 sixes playing in different leagues. South African Henrik Klaasen has hit 104 sixes in T20 cricket this year. Andre Russell has hit 91 sixes this year. Now India’s Abhishek Sharma has also reached the fourth number in this list. Travis Head has 83 sixes in T20s this year and Abhishek has 87 sixes. Whether he manages to cross the 100 mark remains to be seen.
