After Kenya, now Bangladesh also gave a jolt, taking this step on an energy project linked to Adani

Dhaka: After the US court action against Gautam Adani, many countries around the world have started canceling or reviewing the projects associated with his company. Recently Kenya announced the cancellation of a project related to Adani. After this, Bangladesh has also made a big announcement regarding a project related to Adani. Bangladesh has recommended the appointment of an agency to investigate power deals signed by ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s government with various business groups, including India’s Adani Group.

In this regard, the interim government constituted a review committee, which made this recommendation on Sunday. “The National Review Committee of the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources has decided to appoint a reputed legal and investigative agency to review the major power generation contracts signed during Sheikh Hasina’s autocratic rule from 2009 to 2024,” an official statement said. The office of Chief Counsel Muhammad Yunus released a statement saying the committee is currently reviewing seven major energy and power projects.
