Rio de Janeiro: External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi reviewed the process of withdrawal of troops from the borders of Demchok and Depsang in eastern Ladakh in a meeting on the sidelines of the G20 summit. This was the first high-level dialogue between the two sides after the completion of the withdrawal of troops from two points of confrontation along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the mountainous region.

Jaishankar said after the conversation with Wang that the two sides also exchanged views on the next steps towards India-China bilateral relations. The External Affairs Minister wrote on the social media platform, “We have noted the progress made in the recent troop withdrawal process from the India-China border areas. Exchanged views on the next steps towards our bilateral relations. The global situation was also discussed.
An agreement was reached between India and China
Brazil is hosting the G20 summit on Monday and Tuesday. Indian and Chinese armies completed disengagement exercises in Demchok and Dapsang last month after India and China signed an agreement to resolve the border dispute. Both sides have also resumed patrolling activities in both areas after a gap of about four and a half years.
