New Delhi: Defense Minister Rajnath Singh held delegation-level talks with his Chinese counterpart Dong Jun in Vientiane on Wednesday. The talks have come at a time when Indian and Chinese armies have withdrawn troops from two conflict zones in eastern Ladakh just a few weeks ago. The meeting took place in the Lao capital during a summit of the 10-nation ASEAN grouping and some of its dialogue partners. In the meeting, he said that both the countries should avoid a clash like Galwan.
What did Rajnath Singh say?
“Had a very useful meeting with Chinese Defense Minister Admiral Dong Jun in Vientiane,” Rajnath Singh posted on social media platform X after his meeting with his Chinese counterpart Dong Jun. We agreed to work together towards a roadmap for rebuilding mutual trust and understanding.
An agreement was reached between India and China
Indian and Chinese armies completed the disengagement process in Demchok and Depsang late last month. Earlier, after many talks, an agreement was reached between the two sides to resolve the border dispute. Both sides also started patrolling in both areas after a gap of about four and a half years.
