Anantnag Police arrests female drug peddler, seizes 8 kg of ganja powder

As part of the crackdown against drug trafficking, the Bijbehra Police Station in Anantnag on Saturday arrested a woman drug peddler.

In a statement issued by a police spokesperson, the accused, identified as Gulshana, wife of Takia Maqsood Shah, Mohammad Yusuf Ghani of Bijbehra, was nabbed during a checkpoint operation conducted by the police in the area.

About 8 kilograms of ganja powder were recovered from his possession, it reads, marking a major breakthrough in the ongoing fight against narcotics in the region. A case has been registered against the accused under FIR No. 226/2024, U/S 8/20 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Bijbehara Police Station.

Police have launched an investigation to uncover more links to the drug network. The authorities have reiterated their commitment to combating drug abuse, a serious threat to society. They have also requested the community members to cooperate in eradicating this menace through collective efforts.
