North Sumatra Regional Police traffic director Muji Idianto said in a distributed video message. Indonesia’s national search and rescue agency said on Thursday that several vehicles were trapped between landslides on that road.
“It will take at least two days to pull them out of the landslides. Some vehicles are still trapped in the landslides. In many places trees have also fallen and landslides have occurred and vehicles have not been able to get out. Places,” Adianto said.
Earlier this week, 20 people died flash flood and landslides at four locations in the mountains of North Sumatra province, including Karo Regency, less than 20 kilometers from the location of the most recent landslide.
