Bandipora administration kicks politicians out of government. Quarters in Sumbal

The Bandipora administration on Monday started eviction operations after recapturing government quarters illegally occupied by some persons in Sumbal area of irrigation colony in North Kashmir’s Bandipora district.

The eviction campaign was led by Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Sumbal, Syed Murtaza, Tehsildar Sumbal and officials of the Irrigation Department, among others. The operation successfully resulted in the removal of several unauthorized occupants, including prominent political figures.

Among those expelled were Abdul Rashid Khan, a BJP leader; Jahangir Ahmad Dar, former Municipal Committee Sumbal Chairman; Ghulam Nabi Ghani, former Block Development Council (BDC) Chairman of Naidkhai; and social and political activist Mohammad Aslam. Government quarters were then sealed during the process.

Officials said the operation was aimed at reclaiming public property and enforcing regulations related to government housing. “The evacuation was carried out smoothly, and the quarters have been secured,” an irrigation department official confirmed.

When contacted, SDM Syed Murtaza clarified that no one has been officially allotted government quarters. He added that the eviction was carried out as per the directives of the higher authorities to remove the unauthorized.
