Big diplomatic win for India, China ready to implement Modi-Xi deal

Beijing: China on Monday said it is ready to implement the consensus reached on key issues between President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Narendra Modi during their meeting during the BRICS summit in Russia. What did PM Modi and Xi Jinping say?

In a nearly 50-minute meeting held on the sidelines of the BRICS summit in the Russian city of Kazan last month, Modi and Xi Jinping discussed the withdrawal and resumption of troops from remaining standoff points along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh. endorsed the agreement between China. Relations between India and China had reached an all-time low

In June 2020, relations between India and China reached a low point following a military clash in the Galwan Valley. The clash was the deadliest military clash between the two sides in decades. India and China agreed to an agreement on October 21 to withdraw troops from the remaining conflict areas in eastern Ladakh and begin patrolling. The agreement was seen as a major breakthrough in resolving the nearly four-year-old military standoff in eastern Ladakh. Modi and Xi Jinping also directed the special representatives to meet soon for talks on the India-China border issue and to continue their efforts to resolve LAC-related issues. India’s special representative for the talks is National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval, while the Chinese side is led by Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
