Patna, March 27 (IANS) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar took part in the Iftar party organised at the Haj Bhawan in Patna on Thursday.
He was accompanied by the State Rural Works Department Minister Ashok Chaudhary, Water Resources Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, Minority Affairs Minister Mohd. Zama Khan, and several other JD-U leaders.
The event witnessed a significant turnout, promoting the message of brotherhood and communal harmony.
During the event, attendees raised slogans of “2025 again CM Nitish Kumar”, indicating strong support for the Chief Minister’s leadership ahead of the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections.
Minister Ashok Chaudhary emphasised the importance of such events, saying: “JDU organises Iftar parties every year to maintain brotherhood between Hindus and Muslims.”
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has been consistently attending Iftar parties over the last four to five days, showcasing his engagement with the Muslim community.
The first Iftar party was organised at CM Nitish Kumar’s residence on Sunday, though it faced a partial boycott by some Muslim organisations due to his alliance with the BJP.
Besides, the Chief Minister also attended its ally and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) Chief Chirag Paswan’s Iftar party and also joined the Iftar organised by Hindustani Awam Morcha President Jitan Ram Manjhi in Patna.
He also participated in JD-U leader and Cabinet Minister Mohd. Zama Khan’s Iftar event.
The ongoing Iftar events reflect the intense political symbolism in Bihar.
The Rashtriya Janata Dal, led by party supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav, has been actively spearheading these events.
Lalu Prasad Yadav hosted an Iftar party at the residence of senior RJD leader Abdul Bari Siddiqui on Monday, which saw a large turnout from the Muslim community.
Despite the enthusiasm at the Haj Bhawan, CM Nitish Kumar refrained from interacting with the media and left the venue shortly after meeting community leaders.
The series of Iftar parties has become a significant platform for political outreach in Bihar.
With the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections approaching, these events are seen as efforts by political leaders to strengthen community ties and secure voter support, particularly among the Muslim community.
