Blind hit and run case solved in Baramulla district: Driver arrested, vehicle seized

Jammu and Kashmir Police today said that a blind hit and run case in Pattan, Baramulla district has been successfully solved as it has arrested the driver involved and seized the vehicle used in the incident from Budgam district. of Central Kashmir.

Addressing the media, Deputy Superintendent of Police Shah Jahan said that the incident took place on November 15, 2024, when Palahalan police post received information about a hit and run with an unknown vehicle going from Baramula to Srinagar.

“The vehicle hit a pedestrian, Nazir Ahmad Sofi, son of late Abdul Ahad Sofi, a resident of Sadarbal Palahallan, near Parasa Restaurant in Palahallan,” he said.

He said that after receiving the report, an FIR (No. 314/2024) under Sections 281, 125A and 106 BNS was immediately registered at Police Station Pattan.

“Police immediately launched an investigation to identify the driver and vehicle involved in the incident. Unfortunately, despite quick efforts, the pedestrian, Nazir Ahmadi Sofi, succumbed to his injuries after being rushed to a nearby hospital,” he said.

The vehicle, registration number JK04J 0917, was located and seized on November 26, 2024, he said.

The driver of the vehicle was identified as Ahmad Parre, son of Abdul Rasheed Parre, a resident of Ban Zanigam, Budgam. Police said the arrest came after extensive efforts by the police to gather evidence and identify the culprit behind the fatal accident.
