BSNL has once again increased the tension of Jio, Airtel and Voda. The state-run telecom company has added over 65 lakh new users to its network in the last two months. Department of Telecommunication has given this information. Speaking about BSNL’s network expansion and revival, Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said the company has added 65 lakh new users in the last few months, which is a good start. Government is making efforts to provide better network connectivity to the users.
The company’s focus is on increasing users
Millions of users have ported their numbers to BSNL after private telecom companies Airtel, Jio and Vi’s mobile plans got expensive in July. The government telecom company seems to be benefiting from this. At the same time, the company’s chairman has clarified that BSNL will not increase its mobile plans in the near future. The entire focus of the company is to provide better connectivity to the users and add more users.
BSNL has recently installed 51,000 new 4G mobile towers, of which more than 41,000 towers have gone live. The company will install 1 lakh new 4G mobile towers by June next year, after which commercial 4G service will be launched simultaneously across the country. Not only this, the government telecom company is also testing the 5G network. BSNL 5G service will also start few months after 4G launch.
Satellite-to-device service launched
BSNL has become the first telecom company in the country to launch satellite-to-device service. This satellite communication based service was showcased at the recently held Mobile World Congress 2024. In satellite-to-device service, users can make calls without any SIM card and mobile network. The company has launched this service especially to establish communication during emergencies.
