Why did India refuse to go to Pakistan?

The Board of Control for Cricket in India sent a letter to the ICC last week, clearly stating that it will not allow Team India to travel to Pakistan due to security reasons. Even after India gave reasons, Pakistan again sought clarification from the ICC. According to a Cricbuzz report, a PCB spokesperson has said that the PCB had replied to the ICC’s letter only last week. Where he has sought clarification from the ICC as to why Team India will not tour Pakistan.

The Pakistan Cricket Board in its letter to the ICC has also said that New Zealand, England and Australia have visited their country in recent times. Moreover, two of these teams have done so more than once. However, the BCCI is adamant about their decision and after their official stand, the tournament is in a difficult position. The ICC is now considering an alternative event. While the PCB has also sought advice from its government regarding the future strategy. Recently, PTI reported in its report that if Pakistan is not ready for the hybrid model, the Champions Trophy may also shift from Pakistan to South Africa.
