China Masters 2024: PV Sindhu exits second round, beaten by Singaporean

Indian badminton star PV Sindhu’s journey at the China Masters Super 750 ended with a second-round defeat. Sindhu lost 2–1 in three sets to Singaporean Yeo Jia Min in the women’s singles match on 21 November. PV Sindhu started the tournament very well as she defeated her top seed Busanan Ongbamrungphan to reach the second round, although here she faced a tough challenge against Jia Min and could not manage to win.

Sindhu tried to come back by winning the second set

PV Sindhu suffered a one-sided 16-21 first set loss in her match against Yeo Jia Min in the second round of the China Masters Super 750. Sindhu then made a strong comeback in the second set and won it 21-17 to level the match at 1-1. The last set was a tight affair between the two players with Sindhu leading 13-9 at one point but Jia Min took advantage of Sindhu’s mistakes in addition to showing aggressive play and won the tournament 21-23. This match between the two lasted for a total of one hour and 9 minutes.

The pair of Trisha Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand also faced defeat.

If we talk about the performance of other Indian players in this tournament, the pair of Anupama Upadhyay and Malvika Bansod in women’s doubles lost to China’s pair of Liu Sheng Shu and Tan Ning in straight sets 16-11, 11-21. Had to face defeat in the second round. Apart from this, Anupama lost to Japan’s Natsuki Nidaira 7-21 14-21 while Malvika lost to Thailand’s Supanida Kethong 9-21 9-21.
