Congressman RO Khanna announced Thursday that he wants to work with Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy’s Department of Government Efficiency to reduce waste. Elon Musk reacted to Ro Khanna’s offer and appreciated it. “I am willing to work with @doge, @elonmusk, +@VivekGRamaswamy to reduce waste. I have a track record of doing so. I led the charge to get Transdigm to refund $16 million after investigative reporting was exposed. Let’s Pay attention to the Truman Committee and make sure Americans get their money’s worth with DOD spending,” Ro posted as Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy trashed He is scheduled to visit Capitol Hill today to meet with Republican lawmakers in both chambers of Congress to discuss ways to cut back.
Ro Khanna is not the first Democrat to show interest DOGE. Florida Rep. Jared Moskowitz joined the DOGE Caucus, which supports DOGE. Sen. Bernie Sanders, an independent from Vermont, recently posted on X that “Elon Musk is right.”
Moskowitz said he wants to work on making the Secret Service and FEMA independent federal agencies that report directly to the White House, an idea that has bipartisan support, while Sanders and Khanna want to cut the Pentagon budget, citing failed audits.
DOGE will be a new addition to the incoming Trump administration but will not be part of the government. They will work externally to advise the administration on ways to cut costs and will complete their work by July 4, 2026.
Although the DOGE’s work does not begin until January 20, 2025, when the Trump administration officially begins, the two entrepreneurs revealed how they will work. Scores of federal staff who don’t report to the office will be fired, leaving high-paying job titles with no real contribution to the American people.
Republican Marjorie Taylor Green will chair the House Oversight Subcommittee to build a bridge between Congress and DOGE.
