Odisha’s Jharsuguda town created a sensation when the son of a retired General Manager of Mahanadi Coalfield Ltd in Bombay Chowk area of the city tried to show his father’s reach and power by firing openly in the air. The incident is related to encroachment, wherein the accused forcibly occupied the road.
According to the incident, the son of accused Ramji Singh was trespassing on the road. When Vikas Agarwal, the owner of the land adjacent to this road, sent laborers to clear the road adjacent to his land, Ramji Singh’s son protested. First he fired a shot in the air and then when the workers threatened to complain, he fired another shot at the workers as well. There was no casualty in this incident.
The workers informed about the incident
Giving a statement about the incident, the laborers said, “We came to clean the road connected to our owner’s land. The first time we came, Ramji Singh’s family threatened us and drove us away. We are talking to Vikas about this. After complaining again When Ramji Singh’s family asked us to file a police complaint, he first fired in the air. We were safe, but strict action should be taken against this person.”

Meanwhile, Vikas Agarwal said, “I went to that road after five years and found encroachment there. When I sent laborers with the JCB, Ramji Singh’s family protested and threatened them with guns. Eventually Ramji Singh’s son also fired. It is clear that Ramji Singh’s family has occupied the road and we expect action from the police in this matter.”
The police arrested the father and son
The workers recorded the video of the incident in their cameras, in which the accused youth is seen holding a gun. The license of this gun is held by Ramji Singh, who was granted this license in 1985 at Hazaribagh. Ramji Singh has retired from the post of General Manager of Mahanadi Coalfield Limited. After this incident, the police have taken the accused youth and his father Ramji Singh into custody and started investigating the case. (Reporting by Shubham Kumar)
