It is claimed that Donald Trump had an IQ of 73 when he was tested during his first year at the New York Military Academy. A score too low indicates mental retardation. In 2019 the claim was declared false by Snopes because the newspaper clipping on which the claim was based was not an actual newspaper clipping. It is the same newspaper clip that is doing the rounds this time too.
So what is the IQ of Donald Trump? The answer is not known because he never revealed his IQ score although he mocked Joe Biden and Kamala Harris and all other opponents as low IQ individuals.
As X was flooded with an old clip claiming that Trump had an IQ of 73, Republicans were outraged, saying that only with Democrats. IQ 73 Such fake news may fall for debunked long ago. “We know Trump’s IQ is not 73 because he’s not a Democrat,” one X post said.
“Any moron would know that an IQ of 73 would literally make him severely mentally disabled and living in a group home. But the left is willing to buy into anything that reinforces their beliefs,” wrote one on X.
“You’d need an IQ of 73 to believe that anyone with an IQ of 73 can do anything, forget being a billionaire president,” wrote another.
What is the reason for this viral claim?
A debunked newspaper clipping with some William Askew Jr. quotes is the source of the claim. It said the document was in the process of being authenticated in 2019. William Askew Jr. discovered it while cleaning his late father’s apartment. “Dad was a school counselor at NYMA from 1955 to 1985. He didn’t administer these tests, but he was in charge of collecting them and sending them to the grading office,” Askew said.
Snopes.com stated in their 2019 fact check that the news article appeared nowhere and was completely fictional.
