Election result by Wayanad: Priyanka Gandhi gets big lead from Kerala’s Wayanad seat, shock to BJP.

By-elections were held on November 13 for the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat in Kerala, which fell vacant following the resignation of Congress leader and former party president Rahul Gandhi. The result will be declared today. Congress leader and Rahul’s sister Priyanka Gandhi is leading the early trends. At the same time, the Communist Party is in second place, while the BJP is trailing in third place.

Priyanka Gandhi is leading from Wayanad by 48239 votes till the time of writing. In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Rahul Gandhi won from this seat for the second consecutive time. He defeated CPI(M) candidate Annie Raja by more than 3 lakh 64 thousand votes. However, in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, apart from Wayanad, Rahul Gandhi also contested from the Rae Bareli seat in Uttar Pradesh. After winning both the seats, Rahul decided to vacate the Wayanad seat and Priyanka Gandhi was fielded in the by-election from here.

16 candidates in Wayanad

This time 16 candidates are in the fray in Wayanad. Priyanka is in the election field for the first time. The Left Democratic Front (LDF) led by the Marxist Communist Party has fielded Satyan Mokeri and the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has fielded Navya Haridas.

What will be the results of 2024 elections?

In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat had 73.57 percent voting. At that time Congress leader Rahul Gandhi got a total of 6,47,445 votes, while his nearest rival Annie Raja got 2,83,023 votes. Similarly, the third-placed BJP candidate K Surendran got only 141,045 votes.

Did Rahul Gandhi win in 2019?

The Wayanad Lok Sabha seat in Kerala has been a high profile seat in South India. After losing the election in Amethi in 2019, Rahul Gandhi contested the election from here and reached the Parliament after winning. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Rahul Gandhi contested from this seat and secured a total of 7,06,367 votes. According to the statistics of the Election Commission, Rahul Gandhi has received a total of 64.94 percent votes. PP Sunir of CPI (Marxist), who was in second place at that time, got only 2,74,597 votes. Late Congress leader MI Shanawas was elected MP from this seat in 2009 and 2014. After his unfortunate death in 2018, Rahul Gandhi contested from this seat in the 2019 elections.
