Tech billionaire Elon Musk has donated significant funds to support Donald Trump’s successful 2024 presidential campaign, according to a recent Federal Election Commission (FEC) filing. The CEOs of Tesla and SpaceX contributed a total of $238 million America PACA super PAC he set up to boost turnout for Trump in key states this year.
Musk’s financial support has gone beyond America PAC. According to reports, Musk donated $20.5 million RBG PAC On October 24. The group ran ads aimed at linking Trump’s abortion stance to that of the late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Ginsburg’s granddaughter, Clara Spera, criticized the ads: “misleading and an ‘insult’ to Ginsburg’s legacy as a staunch defender of abortion rights.”
In addition, Musk gave $3 million Make America Healthy Again (MAHA) Alliance, another super PAC. The group encouraged supporters of Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who supported Trump, to vote for the former president.
According to the FEC, Musk’s declared political spending for Trump’s campaign reached at least $261.5 million. These figures, disclosed in post-election filings, place him as the campaign’s top financial backer.
Musk is now part of Trump’s transition team, working with Vivek Ramaswamy to lead the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) with a focus on reducing government spending. Musk was spotted on Capitol Hill on Thursday, discussing potential spending cuts with lawmakers.
