Now he has also been included in the Bengal squad for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. PTI had earlier reported that Shami’s inclusion in the Bengal T20 squad is part of a thorough assessment of his fitness, which could pave the way for his return to Team India.

A strong performance for Bengal

After recovering from an ankle injury, Mohammed Shami, returning to the competitive game after a gap of a year, put in an impressive performance for Bengal in the Ranji match against Madhya Pradesh, leading his team to their first win of the season. It is understood that the national selection committee did not want to take any risks by hastily including Shami in the Indian squad after just one Ranji Trophy match after completing an extensive rehabilitation programme.

People in the know said that BCCI’s medical team and national selectors want Shami to play a few more competitive matches in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy to see if his body is fine after so many matches, even if it is a white-ball tournament. . Sudeep Kumar got the responsibility of captaincy

The talented batsman Sudeep Kumar Gharmi was made the captain of Bengal. Bengal will begin their campaign against Punjab in a Group A match in Rajkot.
