Fire breaks out at team hotel in Pakistan, players survive; The big tournament had to be stopped

The Pakistan Cricket Board had to abruptly halt the ongoing national women’s ODI tournament in Karachi after a fire broke out in the team hotel, resulting in the rescue of five players. There was an uproar in Pakistan after the fire incident. The PCB had booked the entire structure for the five competing teams and team officials. Most of the players were outside the hotel when the fire broke out. Due to which a major tragedy was avoided. But this has raised big questions about Pakistan’s system.

No players were injured

A PCB source said all the cricketers and officials, except five players, were at the National Stadium for a match or a net session when the fire broke out. There was no damage to the property of players and officials. No players were injured as the PCB immediately evacuated the five players who were in the hotel at the time of the incident and shifted them safely to the Hanif Mohammad High-Performance Centre.

The final will be played between the top two teams in the points table

The decision to stop the tournament midway was taken keeping the health and safety of the players as the highest priority. Apart from this, PCB is not getting even 100 rooms in any hotel, which are required facilities wise. Now to decide the winner of the national women’s ODI tournament, the PCB press release said that Invincibles and Stars are the top-2 teams in the points table. He will play the final match. The date and venue of the final will be announced in due course.

Big questions have been raised regarding the Champions Trophy

Pakistan is scheduled to host the Champions Trophy 2025, but the issue has stalled after Team India refused to go there. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) was claiming that there was security and good order in place. But after a fire broke out in the team hotel, all its secrets came out. Now the ability of PCB to organize any tournament has been questioned.
