Former Chief Minister’s son also lost the election, a big defeat for the Congress candidate

Bengaluru: The Bharatiya Janata Party and its ally Janata Dal (Secular) have suffered a major setback in the assembly by-elections held in Karnataka. Let us tell you that by-elections were held on 3 assembly seats in Karnataka, out of which BJP contested 2 seats and Janata Dal (Secular) 1 seat. The BJP-led coalition has lost all three seats and Congress candidates have won. The most shocking of these is the defeat of former Chief Minister and current Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy’s son Nikhil Kumaraswamy in the Channapata seat. Nikhil was defeated by Congress candidate CP Yogeshwar by a margin of more than 25 thousand votes.

This defeat is also a big blow for HD Kumaraswamy

Let us tell you that this by-election was a prestige battle for Janata Dal (Secular) leader HD Kumaraswamy as his son Nikhil was once again trying his luck in the Channapatna seat after facing defeat in the previous election. Kumaraswamy vacated this seat after winning the Lok Sabha elections this year. However, this time too Kumaraswamy must have suffered a big blow due to Nikhil’s big defeat. Nikhil campaigned a lot in the election but the public rejected him outright and preferred his rival.

These results were important for BJP and Congress

Let us tell you that the results of the elections held in Sandur, Shigaon and Channapat assembly seats in Karnataka were very important for both BJP and Congress. The victory of the Congress must have given relief to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar. At the same time, for BJP state president BY Vijayendra, the defeat in the Sandur and Shigaon bypolls is a big blow as he has lost an important opportunity to silence his critics in the party. Congress leader in Sandur E. Annapurna won while Yasir Pathan of Congress won in Shigaon.
