Paytm’s UPI International service allows travelers to make cashless payments at popular destinations.
One97 Communications Limited, which owns the Paytm brand, a payments and financial services delivery company, has enabled Paytm users to make UPI payments in select international locations. Now travelers can make seamless payments abroad through apps where UPI is accepted.
Paytm launches UPI International for seamless global payments
Indian travelers can now make cashless, seamless payments abroad through the Paytm app at places where UPI is accepted, including popular destinations in the UAE, Singapore, France, Mauritius, Bhutan and Nepal. This enhancement allows users to effortlessly pay for a wide range of services such as shopping, dining and local experiences abroad.
Quick setup and activation for international travel
Setting up UPI International on the Paytm app is easy and can be done with a one-time activation linked to the user’s bank account. When scanning a UPI-enabled QR code abroad, the app will prompt activation for easy access. Users can choose a usage period from 1 to 90 days depending on their travel duration. To provide more control and prevent accidental transactions, the service can be deactivated at any time to ensure that payments are made only after returning to India.
Transparency and control over currency conversion
During payment, users can view real-time foreign exchange rates and any conversion fees applied by their bank. This ensures complete transparency, helping travelers understand the value of their purchase before completing the transaction.
Cashless convenience at iconic international destinations
Paytm’s UPI International service allows travelers to make cashless payments at popular destinations. Be it shopping in Dubai, dining in vibrant eateries in Singapore, exploring beach markets in Mauritius or visiting handicraft shops in Bhutan and Nepal, users can enjoy seamless UPI payments wherever they are accepted.
Innovative features for financial management
Paytm recently launched the UPI statement download feature, which enables users to track and manage their expenses with detailed transaction records. This tool is especially useful for budgeting during and after international travel.
A Paytm spokesperson shared, “As the pioneer of mobile payments in India, we are constantly innovating to provide greater convenience to our users. With UPI International, we are thrilled to extend this convenience to Indian travelers, enabling them to make secure, cashless payments in countries like the UAE, Singapore, France, Mauritius, Bhutan and Nepal. With the upcoming festive season, we are sure that this launch will make overseas travel more convenient for users. This expansion reflects our commitment to leveraging technology that empowers our users, wherever they are in the world.”
