Iltija Mufti Seeks Justice for Zubair Bhat, Urges Govt Support for Bereaved Family

Srinagar, June 5: PDP leader Iltija Mufti on Thursday visited the family of Zubair Ahmad Bhat, a 30-year-old resident of Sehyar Ali Kadal, Srinagar, who died under suspicious circumstances in Delhi. Zubair, reportedly the sole breadwinner for three families, was found dead last week, raising concerns among relatives who allege foul play and negligence.

Mufti, accompanied by CI Arif Laigroo and PDP District President Ab Qayoom Bhat, offered condolences and called for a fair, transparent investigation into Zubair’s death. The family has alleged that the Delhi Police has not provided clarity on the case and cited digital evidence suggesting he may have been attacked.

They further claim that Zubair, despite a history of migraines, was in stable health and regularly visited Delhi for work. Allegations also include possible medical negligence and discriminatory behaviour by hospital staff based on his Kashmiri identity.

The PDP has urged the central government to expedite the investigation and provide financial relief to the bereaved family, including a government job for one of its members. The party reiterated its commitment to stand by the family and press for justice.
