A major railway disaster has been averted in Bihar. The engine derailed near the route relay interlocking crossing of Jamalpur railway station in Munger district. After this, three wheels of the railway engine came off the railway line. However, fortunately no major mishap occurred during this time. Due to this accident with the railway engine, there was chaos at the Jamalpur railway station for some time.
How did the accident happen?
According to information received from the Railways, the shunting man and people left the spot after stopping the pilot engine. After some time, the engine moved about 50 meters and after approaching RRI, three wheels of the engine derailed. As soon as the incident was reported, engineering and carriage department personnel reached the spot and with jacks and other tools in their hands started trying to bring the derailed wheels back on track.
Many trains were affected
Due to this accident with the railway engine, the operation of trains passing through line number three on Kiul-Jamalpur-Bhagalpur railway section was stopped. However, trains of the up-down route continued to run from line numbers one and two. Brahmaputra Mail from Delhi to Kamakhya in the down route and Intercity from Sahibganj to Danapur in the up line were affected for half an hour.
Railways have ordered an inquiry
After this incident, the railway officials have ordered an inquiry. An inquiry into the incident has also been ordered by the Malda Railway Department. At the time of the incident, a team of PWI and Section Engineer immediately reached the spot. According to officials, electric locomotive number 30029 was parked on line number three of Jamalpur station on Friday evening of November 8. (Reporting by Anamika Gaur)
