Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, police arrested two drug peddlers in Srinagar and recovered banned substances from their possession.
During the search of the vehicle (Zen car), 10 grams of brown sugar was recovered from the driver of the car. He has been identified as the son of Shabir Ahmed Mir. Qadir resident of Bilal Colony Sora. Similarly, 6 grams of brown sugar-like substance was recovered from Scooty’s possession during the morning search.
The accused rider has been identified as Shah Murtaza Iqbal son Mohammad Iqbal Shah resident of Bilal Colony Sora. They have been arrested and taken to the police station where they are in custody. Vehicles used in the crime have also been seized.
During interrogation, it was revealed that both the accused are chronic drug peddlers and are actively involved in selling illegal drugs among the youth of Srinagar district, especially the youth of Sora area.
In this regard, a case vide FIR No. 90/2024 has been registered in Police Station Sora under relevant sections of the Act and further investigation is underway.
Community members are urged to come forward with any information related to drug trafficking in their neighborhoods. Persons found involved in drug trafficking will be prosecuted as per law.
