The second Test of the 5-match series between India and Australia will be played in Adelaide from December 6. Its preparation has started. The next match will be the Pink Ball Test, so Team India will also get a chance to play a three-day practice match, starting from November 30. This will give the Indian players a chance to prepare for playing the pink ball. Meanwhile, only the first match of the series has taken place, with four matches to go, but one player has been dropped from the Indian team squad. Chances of him getting another match are very slim. This player is Devdutt Padikal.
Devdutt Padikkal was suddenly included in the squad and got a chance to play.
Dev Dutt Padikal was not included in the squad when BCCI announced the India squad for the Test series against Australia. However, he was in Australia and was playing for India A against Australia A. Shubman Gill was suddenly injured before the first Test and BCCI suddenly announced the inclusion of Devdutt Padikal in the squad a day before the match. When the match starts on the next day, Devdutt Padikal is playing with the playing eleven of India.
The team was entered for only one Test
Devdutt Padikal did not contribute much to India’s victory in the first Test. He didn’t play his role in the first innings either, while in the second innings when Yashaswi Jaiswal and Virat Kohli scored centuries, Devdutt managed just 25 runs from the bat. The BCCI had already announced that Devdutt was being included in the squad for the first Test. That means it is now out of the rest of the series, until a new update is released.
KL Rahul can bat at number 3
Captain Rohit Sharma has joined the team for the second Test against Australia and will also be seen playing for the team. In such a situation, Rohit Sharma and Yashaswi Jaiswal are likely to open the innings. If we talk about Shubman Gill, it is not yet clear whether he will be able to play the second Test or not. That means he may miss the next match as well. In such a situation, KL Rahul can get a chance to bat at number three. Meanwhile, it is believed that while Devdutt will not be sent back to India until Shubman Gill is fully fit, he can at least stay with the team. If required, they can be included in the team and given an opportunity to play.
