IND vs CLOSED: The Indian cricket team will play the second Test match against Australia in Adelaide from tomorrow i.e. December 6. Bad news for Team India fans ahead of this important Test match. The Indian women’s cricket team’s tour of Australia has started with a very bad defeat. In the first match, the women’s team was bowled out for just 100 runs. After this, Australia won the match in just 16.2 overs.
In fact, the ODI series between India and Australia started on December 5. In this match played at Allan Border Field in Brisbane, Team India won the toss and decided to bat first. Starting the innings, Team India’s opening pair returned to the pavilion on a score of just 19 runs. Priya Punia scored 3 runs and Smriti Mandhana scored 8 runs. Both the batsmen fell prey to Megan Scutt.
The opening pair disappointed
Priya Punia, playing in place of Shefali Verma, who was dropped from the team, could not make her comeback memorable. Veteran opener Smriti Mandhana was caught behind the wicket on an outside swinger. Punia was caught out at backward point off the ball of the shot while trying to play a big shot. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur (17) was shown the way to the pavilion by fast bowler Annabelle Sutherland.
Australia registered a huge victory
At one point India’s score was 62 for three but after that their innings collapsed like cards. Apart from Jemima and Harmanpreet, only Harleen Deol and Richa Ghosh could reach double digits. India lost their last three batsmen for 100 runs. Fast bowler Megan Scott laid the foundation for Australia’s big win. He took five wickets for 19 runs and was instrumental in dismissing the Indian team cheaply. Scott dismissed Priya Mishra to achieve his first career five-wicket haul.
In reply to India’s 100, Australia also collapsed briefly in the middle and lost 4 wickets for 77 runs. However, opening batsman Georgia Wall, playing her ODI debut, batted easily and ensured an easy victory for Australia. Georgia Wall played an unbeaten innings of 46 runs off 42 balls. Australia won the first ODI by losing 5 wickets with 202 balls to spare.
