IND vs AUS: Will Team India’s 7 year drought end? Even Australia has been waiting for this moment for 12 years

India and Australia are all set for a great match. The stage is set in Perth and it’s only November 22nd when the two teams meet in the first Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. In this match, the Indian team may go without Rohit Sharma as there is a possibility that the Indian captain, who recently became a father, may miss the first Test match to spend a few days with family. In such a situation, the team will have to face the challenge of fielding a strong opening pair against India.

Perth pitches have always been suitable for fast bowlers. Here the fast bowlers get tremendous pace and bounce from the pitch which can trouble the batsmen. Something similar is expected to happen this time too. Indian batsmen always find it difficult in Perth and this is the reason why only one batsman from Team India has managed to score a century so far. Virat Kohli played an innings of 123 runs in Perth in the year 2018. Now it will be interesting to see who manages to score a century during the first Test here.

India is waiting for a double century

While a century hasn’t been scored in Perth for many years, a double century has been awaited in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy for quite some time now. Both the teams have been trying to score a double century for a long time in this historic Test series but so far have not succeeded. No Indian batsman has scored a double century in BGT in last 7 years. The last Indian batsman to score a double century in this series was Cheteshwar Pujara, who played a brilliant innings of 202 runs in a Test match played in Ranchi in March 2017.

Drought has been going on for 12 years in Australia

On the other hand, the Australian team has been waiting for a double century in the BGT for the last 12 years. The last double century for Australia in this trophy was on 24 January 2012. Then in Adelaide, Ricky Ponting and Michael Clarke both scored double centuries to register a great achievement for Australia. Since then there has been a double century drought from Australia.
