Indian Army Chief visits Nepal, General Upendra Dwivedi offers prayers at Muktinath Temple

Kathmandu: Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi on Saturday visited the Muktinath temple in Gandaki province of Nepal and offered prayers there. This temple has special religious significance in both Hinduism and Buddhism. General Dwivedi also visited the headquarters of the Western Division of the Nepal Army in Pokhara, where Major General Santosh Ballabh Paudyal gave him a warm welcome, sources in the Nepal Army headquarters said.

But know

The special thing is that the bell has been installed in this temple in honor of the late General Bipin Rawat, the first Chief of Defense Staff of India. A bell was installed here in February 2023 in memory of Bipin Rawat, symbolizing his contribution and services. General Rawat died in a helicopter crash in December 2021. The bell is known as the ‘General Rawat Bell’, a symbol of the close military ties between India and Nepal.
