KL Rahul held the captaincy of Lucknow Super Giants i.e. LSG for 3 years. When Lucknow Super Giants played their first season in IPL 2022, the captaincy of the team was handed over to KL Rahul. In the first season, the Lucknow team managed to reach the playoffs under the captaincy of KL. The team made it to the playoffs in the next season as well but everything changed for KL Rahul in IPL 2024. The team’s performance under KL’s captaincy this season has been very poor. Lucknow failed to qualify for the playoffs in IPL 2024 and finished 7th in the points table. The franchise then released KL Rahul ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction.

It has been an amazing career

Playing in the IPL since 2013, KL Rahul has represented 4 franchises so far. He was part of RCB in his first season. He then moved to SRH in 2014, where he spent 2 seasons. KL once again returned to RCB in IPL 2016 but joined Punjab Kings in the second season. He stayed in Punjab for 4 seasons from 2018 to 2021 but could not win the team title under his captaincy. In IPL 2022, LSG included him in their team as captain but even here he could not reach the title.

Even though KL Rahul has not won the title as a captain so far, his performance as a player has been outstanding. He has played 11 seasons of IPL, out of which he has scored more than 500 runs with his bat in 6 seasons. From that one can estimate how great his record in IPL is. So far he has played 132 matches in IPL and scored 4683 runs. His average during this period was 45.56 and the strike rate was 134.60. He has 4 centuries and 37 half-centuries in IPL.
