IPL 2025 Mega Auction: Another entry among shortlisted players, bids could rise to crores of rupees

While fans are waiting for the start of the 5-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia, on the other hand everyone is also waiting for the mega auction of the Indian Premier League i.e. IPL. 24 and 25 November. The 2-day mega auction is being held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia this time, in which 1574 players registered, after which a total of 574 players were shortlisted for the mega auction, much to everyone’s surprise in England. See fast bowler Jofra Archer’s name is not included, but now his name is also included.

ECB gave NOC to Archer after discussions with BCCI

While Jofra Archer’s name was not included in the shortlist of players, there were reports that the England and Wales Cricket Board had withdrawn Archer’s name in view of next year’s Test series against India and other important tournaments. Now, according to ESPN Cricinfo news, following talks between ECB and BCCI regarding this, Archer has been given NOC by ECB to be included in the list of shortlisted players. Archer has a central contract with the England Cricket Board until September next year, so he is making the decision based on his workload. Archer last played a Test match in the year 2021, after which he has not been able to return to this format till now. The ECB hopes to see him play for the team in the Test series against India next year and then in the Ashes series later this year.

Archer was part of the Mumbai Indians team last time

As for Jofra Archer, Mumbai Indians made him part of their squad in the 2022 mega auction for Rs 8 crore, but he was ruled out for the entire season due to an elbow injury. After this, in the year 2023, Archer was able to play only 5 matches and was sidelined for a long time due to the problem of reoccurring elbow injury. Archer was part of the Rajasthan Royals team in the 2020 IPL season played in the UAE and took 20 wickets. So far Archer has taken 48 wickets in 40 matches.
