The IPL retention is over and now all eyes are on the mega auction, which is scheduled to be held on November 24 and 25. In this auction, many franchises are expected to form completely new teams and also buy many expensive players. Kavya Maran, the co-owner of Punjab Kings, has always paid huge sums to get players into his team. In the last auction, he bought Pat Cummins for Rs 20.50 crore. On the other hand, Punjab Kings co-owner Preity Zinta is also known for showering money on players. Punjab Kings bought Sam Curran for Rs 18.50 crore. Now all eyes will be on Kavya Maran and Preity Zinta in the mega auction as well and a bidding war will be seen between them.
Punjab Kings retained only two players
The Punjab Kings team has not won the IPL title even once till date. The team reached the finals only once, but then lost to Kolkata Knight Riders. Now to win IPL 2025, Punjab Kings might have thought of building a completely different team. For this reason, the Punjab team has retained only two players. Which includes Prabhasimran Singh and Shashank Singh. Both these players performed well for Punjab for a while and single-handedly led the team to victory in many matches.
Punjab Kings Kings have the most money
Now Punjab Kings have the biggest purse ahead of IPL Mega Auction 2025. 110.5 crore rupees due with the team. While in auction it can use 4 RTM. RTM wants to bring Arshdeep Singh and Ashutosh Sharma back into the team. Arshdeep bowls dangerously early in the innings and also proves to be very economical.
Sunrisers Hyderabad retained five players
In keeping with the IPL, the Sunrisers Hyderabad team has retained its 5 strong players, including three foreigners and two Indians. SRH retained Pat Cummins, Henrik Klaassen, Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, Nitish Kumar Reddy. Now he can use RTM in mega auction. Sunrisers Hyderabad currently have a purse of Rs 45 crore. Hyderabad have Rs 65.5 crore less than Punjab Kings. Hyderabad has so far won the IPL trophy once in the year 2016. The then captain of the team was David Warner. Hyderabad made it to the finals under Pat Cummins last season, only to have their title dreams dashed by KKR.
