Magnitude 4.4 earthquake hits Afghanistan

Badakhkhan: A magnitude 4.4 earthquake jolted Afghanistan’s Badakhshan region early Friday morning. National Center of Seismology (NCS) has reported.
NCS noted that the earthquake occurred early in the morning at 06:35 am Indian Standard Time (IST).
According to the National Center of Seismology, the earthquake struck at a depth of 82 kilometers. It was recorded at latitude 36.32 N and longitude 71.37 E in the Badakhshan region of Afghanistan.
The Badakhshan region of Afghanistan is a mountainous region that is vulnerable to natural disasters.
Earlier this week, the region was hit by two earthquakes measuring 4.4 and 3.9 on the Richter scale.
The National Center of Seismology has reported that more than 10 earthquakes have occurred in the region in the past month.
