Now you don’t need a bank account to make UPI payments. Also, you can make UPI payments from other’s bank accounts as well. The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) recently introduced the delegate payment system UPI Circle. This feature will soon come to UPI payment apps like Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm. Currently this feature has gone live on BHIM UPI app.
What is UPI Circle?
UPI Circle is a delegated payment service, in which a UPI user can add his family members or relatives and friends. This can include people who don’t even have their own bank account. By making the UPI payment system flexible, NPCI has brought this facility especially for those family members who are dependent on someone else for cash. After being added to the UPI circle, they will also be able to make UPI payments.
In UPI Circle, users can use two types of delegation – full and partial. In full delegation, the user has the freedom to set a monthly limit of up to Rs 15,000. This means that other users in your circle can make payments up to a maximum of Rs 15,000 in a month. To make the payment, they don’t need to get the payment approval from the primary user i.e. you.
In partial delegation, all secondary users joining the UPI circle need approval for each transaction. As soon as the secondary user makes a UPI payment to someone, the primary user will get a payment notification. The primary user will authorize this payment by entering his UPI PIN. It should also be kept in mind that the primary user will be considered as the one who will create the UPI circle. Any UPI user can stay in only one UPI circle.
