Srinagar, June 19, KDC: Days after their long-pending promotions from Assistant Accounts Officers (AAOs) were finally cleared, the newly elevated Accounts Officers (AOs) have now expressed serious concern over the lack of subsequent adjustment orders, warning that continued delay may lead to collective protest action.
According to official sources, the promoted officers have conveyed that their adjustment concerns are not being adequately addressed through regular administrative channels. In a strong message to the concerned authorities, the officers have threatened to resort to mass casual leave if adjustment orders are not issued by Friday, June 20, 2025.
“We waited years for our promotions, and while the government cleared them after prolonged delays and representations, the absence of adjustment orders is again putting our careers and functioning in limbo,” one of the newly promoted officers told Kashmir Dot Com on condition of anonymity.
The officers said that despite earlier appeals and representations submitted through the Accounts and Treasuries Department, the administration has not issued posting orders — leaving them in an uncertain and unofficial state.
Earlier this month, the Finance Department had issued the long-awaited promotion orders of several AAOs to the rank of AOs after a drawn-out process involving departmental approvals and personal appeals by affected officers. The promotions had been welcomed as a positive step, addressing years of stagnation. However, with no accompanying adjustment or transfer orders, many of the promoted officers continue to serve in their previous positions, undermining both the intent and benefits of their promotion.
The officers say they are now running out of patience.
“We do not wish to disrupt public services, but we may be forced to proceed on mass casual leave if the adjustment orders are not issued by the set deadline,” another officer warned. (KDC)
