Srinagar, Apr 23: A team from the National Investigation Agency (NIA), led by an Inspector General-rank officer, has reached Pahalgam and commenced its investigation into Tuesday’s deadly terror attack that killed 26 people, mostly tourists, and left several others injured.
Official sources told Srinagar based news gathering Agency Kashmir Dot Com that the team is working closely with the Jammu and Kashmir Police and other security agencies to gather evidence, examine the crime scene, and analyse forensic material. The attack took place at the Baisaran meadows, a popular tourist destination in south Kashmir.
The NIA is expected to assist in identifying the attackers, their route of infiltration, and any local support network that may have facilitated the strike. The incident is among the deadliest in recent years targeting civilians in the Valley.
Security across Pahalgam and surrounding areas has been intensified, and multiple teams are conducting coordinated searches. (KDC)
