The first match of the series, played at the Gabba in Brisbane, was interrupted by rain, which led to a very late start and a 7–7 over. In this match, the host Australia batted first and scored 93 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in 7 overs. Chasing this target, the Pakistani team managed to score only 64 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 7 overs and lost the match by 29 runs.

In this match, when the Pakistani team chased the target of 94 runs, they lost 5 wickets till the score was only 16. This is Pakistan’s lowest score in T20 cricket history so far when they lose their 5 wickets so quickly. Maxwell scored 43 runs while batting for the Kangaroo team in this match while Stoinis scored 21 runs not out.
