Pakistan: Met PTI leader Imran Khan in jail, held an important discussion about the protest

Islamabad: Leaders of former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan’s party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf met him at the high-security Adiala jail on Monday, as the party’s convoy marched towards Islamabad. Khan, 72, has been lodged in Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail since last year and has more than 200 cases registered against him, according to his party. In some of them Khan has been granted bail, in some he has been convicted and in some the trial is going on. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Gauhar Ali Khan met party founder Imran Khan in Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail. “Yes, I met him (Khan),” Gauhar told the media after the meeting.

Discussion about the protest

According to ‘Express Tribune’ news, Gauhar met Khyber Pakhtunkhwa information advisor Barrister Saif and party leader Ali Mohammad Khan along with the jailed party founder. Sources said the purpose of the meeting was to apprise Khan of recent developments related to the protests in Islamabad and seek his guidance on the matter. In a statement after the meeting, Gauhar said that the party’s strategy was discussed with him. Given the protests in the capital, party leaders want to ensure that Khan is fully involved in charting the course of action. Sources said this was not a pre-arranged meeting as party leaders meet Khan every Tuesday as per schedule.
